Naval Branch Health Clinic, Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) provides primary care and dental services to Active Duty personnel assigned to MCRD San Diego and USMC recruits completely initial basic training at MCRD San Diego. Additionally, the Branch Health Clinic completes the comprehensive medical and dental in processing of USMC recruits ensuring their individual medical readiness is complete before reporting to the Operational Forces.

Located on the Silver Strand between San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean, Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado, is the West Coast hub for naval amphibious operations including training and special warfare. Established in 1943 to meet the wartime demands for trained landing craft crews, the base has evolved into a major shore installation.
Branch Dental Clinic Coronado is co-located with the Branch Medical Clinic in Building 506 on Bougainville Road within two blocks of the main gate. Branch Dental Clinic NAB provides a full range of dental services to our eligible beneficiaries with the exceptions of orthodontics and oral surgery. Referrals for specialty care are provided as needed to NAS North Island and BDC Naval Station.

The Branch Dental Clinic San Diego is the largest of the branch dental clinics which constitute Naval Dental Center Southwest. It is comprised of the clinic at Naval Base San Diego, Branch Dental Annex Southwest Regional Maintenance Clinic. Our primary mission is to provide comprehensive dental services to the commands at Naval Base San Diego. Additionally, most of the command specialty consultants are assigned to the Naval Base clinic. As a result, we provide consultative services and specialty treatment to eligible beneficiaries from the entire southern California catchment area. Emergencies will be seen at any time during working hours. The primary objective of this treatment is to relieve discomfort and to stabilize the patient's condition. After emergency care, the patient may be referred the following day to the dental facility where they usually receive treatment or to a specialist.

ADVANCED TRAINING PROGRAMS
Two training programs are currently located at Branch Dental Clinic San Diego, Naval Base Clinic. The Advanced Clinical Program in General Dentistry consists of a twelve-month comprehensive clinical (80%) and didactic curriculum (20%). Formal instruction, seminars, literature reviews, demonstrations, and hands on clinical experience are provided in all specialty areas. The residency program is fully accredited by the Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association. The Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Program also consists of a twelve-month curriculum. This program is designed to prepare newly appointed dental officers for operational and overseas assignments. It also consists of clinical rotations in all specialty areas.
SPECIALTY CONSULTANTS
The specialty consultants and the specialty staffs exist to provide consultative services to the Southern California catchment area. Dental officers and other health care providers may refer patients for evaluation and treatment to any of the available specialty areas. It is highly recommended that you contact the specialty department by phone prior to sending a patient. Each department may have special requirements that, if addressed prior to arrival for evaluation or treatment, will save time for the patient. The phone numbers for the specialty departments are provided below. Our primary mission is to provide comprehensive dental care in an expeditious manner to our patients. We will strive to support the operational commitments of the commands that we support. The experience and professionalism of the staff at Branch Dental Clinic San Diego strives to be second to none. FLEET LIAISONS
Since many of our patients are stationed on board ships home ported, we have a Fleet Liaison Department whose mission is to "Take dentistry to the Deck plates". Currently, our Fleet Liaison Department has mobile dental vans. These vans are self-contained clinics. Equipped with two dental operatories and x-ray capabilities, these mobile vans park on the piers and provide annual examinations, restorative dental treatment, and dental cleanings. There is also tremendous savings in man-hours for the fleet commands through these efforts to provide dental services on the piers and at the work center.
